Fluropolymer Welding Rods

Barnes Plastic Welding Equipment Limited offer a comprehensive range of fluropolymer welding rod materials such as:-

  • FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) Welding Rod
  • PFA (PerFluoroAlkoxy) Welding Rod
  • PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) Plastic Welding Rod
  • ECTFE (Ethylene ChloroTriFluoroEthylene) Welding Rod
  • MFA (Fluorocarbon Perfluoromethoxy) Welding Rod

They are offered here in 3 diameters (as shown in the table below.) These varying fluoropolymers (as listed below), are mainly used in the fabrication of chemical baths, wet benches, chemical tanks and vessels (for aggresive chemicals), bespoke inert liquid enclosures and semiconductor wafer baskets.

3 mm PVDF,    ECTFE
3.5 mm FEP,   PFA,   PVDF,   ECTFE,   MFA
4 mm FEP,   PFA,   PVDF,   ECTFE,   MFA
  • Welding Rods supplied in 1 mtr sticks or continuous lengths

Recommended Temperatures for Hot Gas Welding:-

Material Hot Air (Gas) Welding Gun Nozzle Temperature in ºC Welding Medium
FEP 350 - 380ºC Air *
PFA 400 - 420ºC Air *
PVDF 360 - 400ºC Air *
ECTFE 340 - 350 ºC Nitrogen
MFA 400 - 420ºC Air *

* Oxidisation of the matching material & welding occurs when air is used as the welding medium.

Important Note: The temperatures shown above are not the heat gun settings. They are the required temperatures that must come out of the heat gun nozzle in order to achieve a sucessful weld.
